Baby in road

Welcome to this week’s Reno News & Review.

Last week, while thinking about my friends and associates Kat and Grant Kerlin Nejedlo and their upcoming parenthood, I wrote about getting my couch and love seat reupholstered and the great experience I had working with a local company. I didn’t want to mention the name of the company until I had the furniture back in my house, so I could be sure that I wasn’t going to end up with some hidden charge or less-than-perfect experience before I recommended them, but I can tell you now that I had a great experience working with the folks down at Evco Interiors, and my blue suede sofa looks and feels phenomenal. Now, just keep your shoes off my blue suede couch.

And speaking of Lilian Marie Nejedlo, born March 6 and weighing in at 7 pounds 14 ounces, I couldn’t be happier if I’d had something to do with it.

I had kind of a funny experience associated with the birth, though. I was at the Nevada Interactive Media Conference at UNR on Saturday. At 11:57 a.m., I texted Kat: “Hey Kat, if you aren’t having a baby, would you mind sending our twitter information to [my home email address]. To which was replied: “She’s having baby right now+++>” Needless to say, I could think of nothing but Kat and Grant and Lily for the rest of the conference. (And I even managed to keep the secret.)

So Kat is expected to return from maternity leave around the beginning of May, and calendar editor Kelley Lang is expected to leave on maternity leave in mid-May. Must be something in the air around the editorial offices, and while I don’t have much worry for Dennis Myers or myself, Brad Bynum, who is engaged, seems a little vulnerable. I’m just saying.
