Are your carpets dirty?

Welcome to this week’s Reno News & Review.

“Hello, are your carpets dirty? This is Jeff Harris with the Carpet, Tile and Furniture Cleaning Experts. And for limited time, we will clean as many rooms as you like for as low as $9.95 per room. That’s right, as low as $9.95 per room. And of course hallways, closets and bathrooms are always free. We are also currently having super cleaning specials on our tile and grout cleaning, our furniture cleaning and our oriental rug cleaning. If you like to hear more about our super cleaning specials, or if you like to schedule appointment, please call (530) XXX-XXXX. Thank you and have a very nice day.”

Thanks, Jeff, but you’ve already ruined it. I have seven messages saved on my answering machine—they’re all from this asshole. It’s a landline that I only use for DSL and rare personal business. But somehow, he got my number. I’ve never had a business relationship with this numbnuts, but as soon as I call him to request he stop calling, I will have. So I don’t.

Internet research shows that many people associate this company with TCE Marketing, which seems to be in San Ramon, Calif. Since they don’t return calls, I can’t say whether it’s the company doing the robo-calls. It’s easy to find the owner of the company’s name on the internet.

I’m on the National Do Not Call Registry, and I’ve reported the calls to the Federal Trade Commission, but somehow, the business keeps calling. I presume “Jeff Harris” is a fake name, but this company and its owners need to be prosecuted.
