About Schmidt

Jack Nicholson just gets better with age. As Warren Schmidt, a newly retired insurance salesman looking back at his life and not liking what he sees, he manages to drop his “Jackisms” for a real performance. Director Alexander Payne’s dark comedy is an all-too-real examination of an American family, and everyone involved does an incredible job. Dermot Mulroney delivers the best work of his career as a mullet-sporting waterbed salesman, and Kathy Bates will probably get an Oscar nomination as a free-spirited divorcee. Another classic Nicholson performance.
