A new kind of gas station

Bently Biofuels opened its biofuels gas station and convenience store on Sept. 30 in Minden. The company has been making biofuels from used cooking oil and “domestically sourced non-food vegetable oils” since 2005. Now it’s selling five blends of it—B5, B20, B99.9, E10 and E85—at its “gas station,” the Bently Biofuels Outpost at 1350 Buckeye Road.

The Outpost is the first LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) convenience store, and its shelves are being stocked with environmentally friendly snacks and Made in Nevada products. One highlight is organic coffee roasted in Carson Valley. The biofuels station is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, while the convenience store is open 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Fri. and 8 a.m.- 6 p.m., Sat.-Sun.
