Issue: November 23, 2017

Welcome to this week's Reno News & Review!

Holiday shopping season officially starts in a few days. If you like buying from local artists and businesspeople, check out this week's feature story. We've highlighted a few who are ready to sell their wares and host events in studios and boutiques throughout December.

Also in this issue, contributor Holly Hutchings introduces us to artist Blaire Zika, for whom art played a central role in dealing with the death of a loved one. Marc Tiar visits Press Start, the new video game bar, and painter Greg Allen steps in as guest columnist to discuss gun violence.

Check out the rest of the RN&R for more news, entertainment and comics—and when you're done reading, our full-color newsprint is not half bad for making origami tree ornaments. (Seriously, I tried it. This stuff holds a crease pretty nicely.)

I hope you all have a safe and happy Thanksgiving—and, whether you like to spend the season shopping, crafting, or just hiding under the covers until January—may the 2017 holiday ramp-up season bring you more joy than hassle.
