Initiated by the combined efforts of one Mary Thekston—a woman who conducted Bible studies with homeless people and gave out free food in crock-pots—and a group of young people from St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, the Jesus Center provides food and shelter in a spirit of Christ-centered compassion.
