Operation revenge

The Cape: 1969

A dark revenge fantasy set in the Vietnam War, The Cape: 1969 (IDW, $21.99) was adapted by Joe Hill from his short story. Here, Gordon Chase, Marine doctor and medevac pilot, is shot down and captured by a Viet Cong cadre led by an officer who once lived in America and now hates Americans. A naked, tattooed Vietnamese man that the guerillas call a witch is also captured. When Chase kills the witch in a forced death match, something happens—Chase suddenly gains extraordinary powers. The drawings by Jason Ciaramella and Nelson Daniel are as dark and violent as the story. Although it's supposedly Chase's love for his two sons driving his survival, that's quickly overwhelmed by an urge to punish his captors.
