(No) confidence man

Nearly four out of five faculty members who took part in an April referendum on CSUS President Alexander Gonzalez voted that they had no confidence in him.

The school’s budget deficit of $6.5 million is one issue of dispute. Student-faculty ratio is another.

“In the coming weeks and continuing into the next academic year, I will seek your input and develop a number of concrete actions to address these issues, Gonzalez wrote in a post-vote letter to the “campus community.”

The referendum does not oblige him to resign. Instead, it calls for the Faculty Senate to identify “specific actions that the president must take” to “restore the quality of the instructional program and the faculty’s confidence in his leadership.”
