Dirt Nasty: Frat-boy hero

“I got a Doberman pinscher named ‘Felch,’ yo, mang!”

“I got a Doberman pinscher named ‘Felch,’ yo, mang!”

Dirt Nasty this Thursday, April 30, 8 p.m.; $15. The Boardwalk, 9426 Greenback Lane in Orangevale.

If you haven’t heard of Dirt Nasty yet, then you’re pretty much blowing it. Following a successful stint in gay porn and daytime TV (the only two things ever on in my house), actor Simon Rex released his hip-hop debut under his alias “Dirt Nasty.” If you spend any time at all on YouTube, you’ve probably already heard his single “1980,” the song responsible for inserting the term “Yo, mang” into the vocabulary of every frat boy in America. The beats are ridiculous, and it’s obvious this album cost about zero dollars to produce, but the resulting songs are way more enjoyable than anything Lil Wayne has put out (that dude sucks so hard.) Tracks like “Droppin’ Names” and “True Hollywood Story” could only have come from a man who’s pushed the limits of glamour and excess in the vicious Hollywood party scene. He’s offensive, he’s cocky, he’s probably annoying as hell to hang out with: He’s Dirt Nasty.
