Midtown’s new Sweet Street

L Street is the new Sweet Street, now that TreyBcakes (180l L Street) has moved in and opened between Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates and Yogurtagogo. You shouldn’t be concerned, though, about going in and seeing more of the same. “We were careful not to have anything that crossed over on either [Ginger Elizabeth’s or Yogurtagogo’s] menus,” explained owner Trey Luzzi.

Go in and you’ll find a wide variety of baked goods, from cakes and pies to daily soups and salads. TreyBcake’s signature items have already positioned themselves as fan favorites among Sacramento’s haute food critics. A mini meatloaf baked in a cupcake tin, nestled in puff pastry, and topped with Parmesan mashed potatoes and bacon sprinkles is adoringly called the Stud Muffin. Trey’s grandmother’s red cake, a take on the Waldorf Astoria red cake recipe (not to be confused with red velvet cake), has also become a best seller.

But one of the best parts about TreyBcakes has to be the hours, which include Friday and Saturday nights until 1 a.m. Crash through and sweeten up your party night.
