Alpha and Omega

Rated 2.0

A blue-blooded female alpha wolf (voice by Hayden Panettiere) and a fun-loving omega (Justin Long) are removed by forest rangers to another national park and must make their way back home so she can marry the prince of a rival pack and avoid a war of the wolves. Writers Chris Denk and Steve Moore and directors Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck have concocted a goofy animated variation on Frank Capra’s It Happened One Night, but the story isn’t very compelling, the characters aren’t very interesting, the jokes aren’t very funny and the animation isn’t very good. The script veers uncomfortably between juvenile get-your-butt-out-of-my-face humor and adult sexual innuendo (“Was it good for you?”); the final result, while passable enough, is no particular treat. Even in 3-D, it has a generic Saturday-morning look.
