TGI pie day

If you were as devastated as I was when The Real Pie Company at 12th and F streets closed, then your pie prayers have been answered. Real Pie quickly developed a rabid following when it opened in 2007, only to close about a year later. The reviews and RIPs on Yelp.com alone are amazing. Now, Kira O’Donnell, the owner of Real Pie, has reinvented her business model. On a limited basis, she’ll be offering her buttery, flaky pie perfection by pre-order through her Web site, www.realpiecompany.com. Pickup will be at Corti Brothers (5810 Folsom Boulevard) on Fridays only. See what’s on the upcoming menu and send her your requests for past favorites. O’Donnell’s first comeback pies just before Valentine’s Day were apple and quince galettes and Lemon Love Tarts with Meyer lemon curd. She sources the best local fruits and nuts for her fillings and uses all butter for the crust. It’s beautiful simplicity.
