Have you been to the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary lately? The zoo, which houses animals who cannot be released into the wild because of injury or upbringing, has some amazing projects under way. Soon, the wolves will have more roaming room, the badger will get an apartment upgrade, and the Premarin foals (just a few of the 65,000 born annually as byproducts of the Premarin industry, which harvests the urine of pregnant mares) will have a new barn in which to wait for adoption. You can support these projects by attending the zoo’s 10th annual Growl, Howl and Wine. Enjoy gourmet food, wine, games and a live auction. Auction prizes include wine-tasting tours and “brunch with the monkeys.” Tickets are $40. The fund-raiser happens Friday at 6 p.m. at the Folsom Community Center, 52 Natoma Street. Call (916) 351-3527 for info.
