Clownology is a serious science, and the Carmichael Recreation and Park District is looking for the few, the proud and the large-footed. If you’ve ever felt the urge to try clowning, this 10-week course will provide you with the fundamentals. Topics such as the history of clowning, types of clowns and styles of makeup will be covered, along with valuable guidance in creating your very own clown character. The class will be led by Bob “Hobo Bob” Hoagland, not to be confused with Hobo Ken, after whom the city of Hoboken, N.J., wasn’t named. The course will be held at Carmichael Park, 5750 Grant Avenue in Carmichael on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The graduation ceremony will be the Roseville Holiday Parade. The course fee is $75, plus $10 paid to the instructor for class materials. For more information on the course and how to register, call (916) 485-5322 or visit www.carmichaelpark.com.
