Viral-food alert

Heads up, foodies and hipster food writers (and move over, Ramen Burger and waffle taco), the Sacramento area is getting its own artisanal, totally blogable waffle-based food: a waffle burger. Yes, a new restaurant called The Waffle Experience (www.thewaffleexperience.com) will carry the burger when it opens in Natomas in a few weeks, according to posts on its Instagram account (www.instagram.com/thewaffleexperience). The restaurant will be located at 4391 Gateway Park Boulevard, Suite 650, and helmed by chef Michael D. Donoho, according to a listing on www.farmtoforkcapital.com. The restaurant will also be “a strict organic, local product restaurant”—whatever that means—according to the Farm-to-Fork site. The eatery's Instagram page shows off some other savory and sweet waffle items, too, and it'll also serve cups from Sacramento's Liberty Coffee Roasting Company. Still, no word yet if it'll serve any “wonuts” (waffle donuts).
