Vegan pizza revolution

America loves pizza—and pizza joints are finally loving Americans who are vegan. While herbivores could custom order a veg-topped pie from most places, the relatively new PizzaRev chain in East Sacramento (at 5801 Folsom Boulevard, Suite 110) crushes it like red pepper by clearly marking its menu with V’s for “vegan”—and it has Daiya vegan mozzarella and vegan sausage. Zpizza, another chain in Roseville (3984 Douglas Boulevard)—with more stores “coming soon” to East Sac, Elk Grove and Fair Oaks—also marks its menu with vegan options, including Daiya and Beyond Meat. And where a Zpizza once occupied 2700 East Bidwell Street, Suite 500, in Folsom now stands locally owned Sacramento Pizza Co., which also offers Daiya—and “character dining,” for those who want a slice with Ariel, Elsa or Batman. The bottom line: Vegans are hungry and have money, curiosity and friends to dine with them. Smart business move, guys.
