The Bushiad

Brad Pitt’s buff-beyond-belief film portrayal of Achilles has nothing on this epic poem for our times. If Homer had witnessed the plotting and machinations of the Bush regime, he might have written a different sort of epic. Victor Littlebear, the owner of this site, does an exceptional job of crafting current events into a poem worthy of the blind bard. The Bushiad and its companion poem, The Idyossey, put a new spin on war making in our contemporary age of kings. Opening with “The Rage of George,” the invocation of a “rosy-fingered dawn” will bring an immediate smile to those who’ve waded through the original Trojan tale, while keeping the spear of satire sharp. And, if the humor is a bit too literate, there are links to plenty of places where the political humor is less highbrow.
