So, Jesus and Satan walk into a bar …

Where’s Satan? Uh, duh: He’s everywhere.

There’s no shortage of religious-humor fodder in my family. My dad is a born-again Christian, and each Christmas his family makes a birthday cake for Jesus. My mom, too, gets in on the act: She harbors a jade-dildo idol in her living-room china hutch, so that’s good for a few bizarre and vaguely uncomfortable veneration jokes as well.

Anyway, I’m not about to give up my day job. I leave the God jokes to the professionals: The Coexist? Comedy Tour, a six-comedian troupe featuring local Keith Lowell Jensen (atheist), Mike E. Winfield (Christian), Moshe Kasher (Jewish), Tapan Trivedi (Hindu), Tissa Hami (Muslim) and Sammy Obeid (Buddhist).

The troupe passes through Sac every year and actually performed its inaugural show here in town two years ago, so it’ll be fun this time around to see how they’ve honed their chops after touring the nation and playing venues such as the Hollywood Improv, Art Theatre of Long Beach, the Seattle Comedy Underground and Portland’s Bagdad Theatre.

Bring Grandma. It’ll be more fun than Jell-O casserole after church on Christmas Eve.
