San Francisco, eat your heart out!

Wow. Until now, I’ve never considered how gross the phrase “eat your heart out” really is. Nonetheless, it’s the perfect sentiment for this pick because I can’t help feeling a bit superior this week. You see, Beth Lisick—spoken word poet, sketch comedian with White Noise Radio Theater, SFGate.com columnist and winner of the 2002 Firecracker Alternative Book Award for her short-story collection This Too Can Be Yours—is performing at Luna’s Café! This is not just any fabulous Lisick performance, either. It’s a collaboration with electronic musician Eli Crewes, and it’s free. (Poetry deities be praised!) So, everyone within the, uh, sight of my words, get yourself down to Luna’s Café at 1414 16th Street, on Thursday at 8 p.m. You’ll be oh-so-glad you did. Call 441-3931 for more information.
