Fans of the long-running public-radio show A Prairie Home Companion won't want to miss its Radio Romance Tour 2013. The St. Paul, Minn.-based crew arrives Thursday, July 11, at the Community Center Theater as part of a nationwide summer road trip. Starring the inimitable, venerable host and writer Garrison Keillor (pictured), the cast also features the likes of singer Aoife O'Donovan, comedian Fred Newman and the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band. The latter features guitarist Pat Donohue and fiddle player and mandolinist Richard Kriehn.

What to expect? Imagine if the show's weekly radio broadcast—set to celebrate its 40th year in 2014—came to life and its players stepped out into your living room for a two-hour show. In short, this will be a sophisticated yet irreverent mix of song, off-the-cuff dialogue and jokes, poetry, storytelling, “news” from Lake Wobegon and general tomfoolery. Tickets are $35-$74.50. Thursday, July 11, 7:30 p.m. at the Community Center Theater, 1301 L Street; (916) 808-5181; http://prairiehome.publicradio.org; www.sacramentoconventioncenter.com.
