Pop Goes the Library

Things have changed since the days of the late, lamented card catalog, as you’ll find at Pop Goes the Library. The blog, written by a smart team of hip librarians (no funning, please), is about how libraries can and do use a wide variety of pop-culture resources to improve libraries—and make them more fun. Says site founder Sophie Brookover (whose book of the same name, written with co-blogger Elizabeth Burns, is out this month): “To me, pop culture is a way to make the library an indispensable part of people’s everyday lives.” From aggregations of cool pop-culture reference sites to tales from Comic-Con to musings on young-adult fiction sensations, Pop Goes the Library is an eclectic, Dewey Decimal-free mix that both librarians and librarygoers may browse.
