By now, y’all should pretty much know about the SAMMIES (they’ll be held on Wednesday, March 27, at the Crest Theatre, in case you’ve ignored this paper’s ongoing publicity blitz). However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Jonesies Award Show, which will kick off six nights earlier at 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at Old Ironsides, 1901 S St. The alternative-awards event, again, will be hosted by regional celebrity and rock god Skid Jones, who has a thing or two to say about just about everyone who plays music in this town. And while Old I may not have the Crest’s gold-leafed and velvet-curtained charm, it does boast reasonably priced cocktails—libations that, historically, have lubricated audience members, performers and the emcee enough to guarantee an uproarious evening for everyone. Can you say, “be there”?
