Not beer

I know this issue is dedicated to beer and whatnot, but maybe you don’t actually like beer. Maybe you aren’t interested in Sacramento Beer Week events. I’m not judging. Besides, there’s a rad wine event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 27: a preview of sorts for the popular Barbera Festival that takes place June 11 in Amador County. The Barbera Festival always sells out, but you can lock down $50 tickets by attending the free prerelease party at Terra d’Oro Winery (20680 Shenandoah School Road in Plymouth), which also includes wine tasting and food pairings. Not sure you like barbera? It’s a smooth, food-friendly red varietal originally from the Piedmonte region of Italy, but now nearly 200 California wineries produce barbera—and Amador County is known for some of the best. If you can’t make it, Barbera Festival tickets go on sale March 1 at http://barberafestival.com.
