Been feelin&Rsquo; ready to tuck into some bearded, bluesy forlorn folk? Try Tyler Ramsey, who plays guitar with Band of Horses—and without them, as he will 10 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Sophia’s Thai Kitchen, 129 E Street in Davis. True, the show’s likely to be stuffed with insufferable scenesters, but they won&Rsquo;t trouble you none, not once you get an earful of Ramsey’s tunes. Presumably, these will be selected from the beauties offered on his recent solo album, A Long Dream About Swimming Across the Sea. Like that slippery stunner “Once in Your Life,” which rewards your uncontrolled impulse to make a Neil Young reference by turning around and daring you to make a Brian Wilson reference. Or “Night Time,” which instructs you when&Rsquo;s best to listen to it, and how—alone with your tormenting memories, natch. And many impeccably tailored others. Ramsey’s great ear for phrasing and harmony ensures music so tasteful, it’s almost irritating. Except that it’s gorgeous. The Dimes and Shelley Short will join him for this show. Tickets cost $5, and you can learn more at www.sophiasthaikitchen.com.
