Hamlet 2

Rated 4.0

It’s surprising how, when something is stupid enough, it becomes interesting again. Or at least that’s the case with Hamlet 2, which is funny in a Napoleon Dynamite-meets-Fame kind of way. An untalented but passionate and only marginally self-aware failed actor-turned-drama teacher tries to save the school’s theater department with a musical sequel to Hamlet that borders on the blasphemous. Yes, it’s weird, but in the same way that The Office is weird; you laugh because you’re embarrassed for the characters. What’s even better is the way the movie consistently walks the fine line between kitsch and camp.
