Good deeds and a party

There’s a spring bounty of food events coming up, but if you’re feeling beneficent, opt for one that will help feed others, too. The Point West Rotary Club is presenting Festa di Vino on April 25 at the Aerospace Museum of California. The ticket sales and auction will benefit charitable and nonprofit causes, including Women’s Empowerment, which helps homeless women find work, homes and even improve their health through nutrition and cooking classes. A slew of local winemakers and chefs will contribute, including Rail Bridge Cellars, Carvalho Family Wines, Gonul’s J Street Cafe, Lucca and My BBQ Spot. The American River culinary students and I will provide cooking demos every half-hour. There will be a silent auction, featuring a three-day Bodega Bay getaway, tickets to the River Cats Solon Club and some beautiful quilts made by a Zulu quilting guild. You can also order a cookbook with recipes from the participating vintners and chefs. For tickets, details and a chance to do a good deed, visit www.festadivino.com.
