Instead of wasting Sacramento’s intense summer solar rays on tanning, use them to cook delicious food. A solar-cooking workshop will be Saturday, June 5, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Soil Born Farms American River Ranch, 2140 Chase Drive in Rancho Cordova. It’s a hands-on class presented by Solar Cookers International that will explain how solar cooking works and teach participants how to adapt recipes for a solar oven. The class fee is $49, which includes a solar panel cooker and pot. Register at Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, 1900 Alhambra Boulevard; by phone at (916) 455-2667; or on the website at http://sacfoodcoop.com. For more information, visit www.soilborn.org.
