Alynda Lee Segarra’s got stories to tell. A runaway at 17, she hopped trains around the country, picking up the banjo and settling in New Orleans. There, Segarra formed folk trio Hurray for the Riff Raff, whose sweetly nostalgic melodies bear little trace of her hardened life. The group’s sophomore release, Young Blood Blues, is a wandering journey through Segarra’s past, accompanied by beautifully harmonized yet understated fiddle, banjo, accordion and upright bass.
