Fri., March 29, the Bar Fly Effect

Luigi's Fun Garden, 6:30 p.m., $5

If there's one thing local band the Bar Fly Effect loves to do, it's drink. That and mosh and party—pretty much anything having to do with old-school '90s punk rock. The group combines meaty punk-rock licks and power-pop songwriting with plenty of lyrics about imbibing. What else is there to do at a punk-rock show other than drink (besides getting in on the circle pit, of course)? Bar Fly's been around since 2007 but has been gaining more momentum these last couple years. And while this five-piece is getting wassailed and wild onstage, it still manages to play some solid, tight tunes in the process. 1050 20th Street, Suite 150; www.facebook.com/thebarflyeffect.
