When Daniel Castro picks up his guitar and starts playing, prepare to be taken on a blues voyage. A master guitarist and rock-solid bluesman who also pens his own songs, Castro releases surges of music to the audience through his guitar and strong, sometimes gritty, bluesy voice. Listen for nuances of the late B.B. King and Albert Collins—from a man who's been praised by Elvin Bishop. His CDs are great, but the only way to really appreciate Castro and his band is to see them perform live. From the gritty standards of bygone days to the contemporary rock-based “Desperate Rain”—which is perfect for dancing—Castro seemingly does it all. 904 15th Street, www.danielcastro.com.
