It goes without saying that radio journalism and dance are two mediums that rarely have any overlap. Yet these are essentially the two main ingredients in Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host. The three players in this production are choreographer Monica Bill Barnes, professional dancer Anna Bass and This American Life host Ira Glass. Glass will be the most recognizable name for most patrons, but this is an equal collaboration between the three artists. Each person in the trio does what he or she does best. Barnes and Bass tell stories via dance and Glass via spoken word and audio clips. It is homespun, silly and a little experimental. What should keep it charming are its loosely stitched-together structure and Glass's self-deprecating humor. The themes of the stories are simple and easily relatable: love, loss and mortality.
