Bruce Willis has nothing on a kid from the ’80s with a joystick when it comes to destroying asteroids.

Atari 2600 players didn’t have state-of-the-art drilling equipment to land on an asteroid and blow it up. All they had was a little triangle man to annihilate asteroids hurling toward them and pesky alien spacecrafts trying to shoot them down. It was risky business; but thank goodness for Otter Pops to keep a player’s energy levels high. It’s time to get that joystick hand back in shape for Atari Party ’09 on Saturday, March 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Yolo County Library in Davis. More than 200 Atari games from the ’70s through the ’90s will be set up to play, featuring classic games such as Space Invaders and Frogger, along with BattleSphere from Atari Jaguar. Who ever thought you could have so much fun in 2-D?
