All About Steve

Rated 1.0

After one blind date, an obsessive-compulsive crossword puzzle writer (Sandra Bullock) stalks a TV news cameraman (Bradley Cooper) all across the country, egged on every step of the way (and for no good reason) by the cameraman’s onscreen reporter (Thomas Haden Church). Writer Kim Barker has only one other credit, 2007’s License to Wed. On that job, it took three other writers and Robin Williams to drag the movie up to mere wretchedness. This time, Barker is all alone, and the result is hopelessly harebrained; it plays like something by a precocious, untalented 10-year-old after taking a correspondent’s course in screenwriting. Under Phil Traill’s boorish direction, Bullock and Church’s personal charms are effectively choked off (Cooper, on the other hand, has yet to prove that he even has any).
