Four decades ago, before we had massive, online multiplayer games, there was Atari: an addictive 8-bit family of home computers and game software. Remember titles like Mario Bros., Millipede, Pac-Man and Breakout? If you miss those glory days, or want to find out what they were like, you can head over to Atari Party 2011 this Saturday in the Davis Public Library. The free event will have more than a fair share of Atari games, public speakers and films. Speakers will include Paul Cubbage of the Atari Program Exchange and Darek Mihocka of Emulators, Inc. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to watch the 2003 documentary Once Upon Atari and the day will conclude with a screening of Cloak & Dagger, an 1984 film involving a prominent Atari plot tie-in. The event happens Saturday, June 11, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, 315 E. 14th Street in Davis. For more information, visit www.newbreedsoftware.com/atariparty.
