BREAKIN’ THE LAW

City code sections 12.44.240–12.44.250: No cavorting or climbing
How many movies or TV shows have you watched in which one or more of the characters spontaneously decide to start dancing and cavorting in the public fountain?

Much as you’d probably like your life to be more like an episode of Friends, you can forget about it. City rules strictly forbid swimming, wading or placing “any liquid or solid object in any pool or fountain located upon a mall.” Also, no climbing on any sculptures, light post, vending machine or any “strubor tree.” We have no idea what a strubor tree is. We couldn’t find it in a dictionary or anywhere online. So it’s likely that’s a typo in the code meaning “shrub or tree.” Until it’s cleared up, though, climb all the shrubs and trees you want—just not strubor trees.
