Joe Dirt

Rated 2.0 This movie could’ve been a lot more fun. David Spade plays Joe Dirt, a mullet-sporting recluse who recounts his “white trash” origins while guest spotting on a radio talk show hosted by Dennis Miller. The movie is comprised of a series of flashbacks that are unfunny for much of the running time but hit a relatively funny high point when Christopher Walken, master of weird-assed comedy, enters the picture as a janitor. Spade manages moments that are OK, but is mostly irritating. Kid Rock has a small role as Dirt’s enemy, and he’s actually funnier than Spade. The movie needs more Walken and Rock and less Spade.
