Pokémon: The Movie 2000

This “movie” combines Pikachu’s Rescue Adventure, a 22-minute short, with The Power of One, a feature that introduces six new Pokémon. It has more action and less preachy moralizing than Pokémon The First Movie, but the same cheesy plotting and primitive animation. Pikachu’s journey takes the yellow creature and friends into an underground rain forest. In Power, Pokémon trainer Ash Ketchum may be destined to save the Earth after a Pokémon collector captures a fabled bird and disrupts the harmony of nature. Lesson of the day: Pokémon are more attuned to nature, but one human can make a difference. Directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and Michael Haigney.
