Rated 3.0 Andy Warhol’s shop-worn comment on universal fame gets an adrenal reworking as two Eastern European criminals (Karel Roden and Oleg Taktarov) try to milk big bucks from the American media while hoodwinking our judicial system. The two sweaty thugs visit Manhattan seeking a cache of bank robbery loot. The money is already spent so they kill their former comrades and make a deal to sell the videotaped murder to a tabloid TV show. This lurid tale about greed and public figures who feed and feed off the sensationalism-hungry public is a slick, lurid thriller draped in heavy handed social commentary. Robert De Niro and Edward Burns star as a celebrity cop and an arson investigator, respectively. Written and directed by John Herzfeld (2 Days in the Valley).
