Payments to Julie

For several years, Congressman John T. Doolittle has been paying substantial sums of money to his wife, Julie Doolittle, from his campaign-committee accounts. The method of these payments is to write a check to “Sierra Dominion Financial Solutions,” a company with only one officer and one employee: Julie Doolittle. In fact, the only office of Sierra Dominion is the Doolittles’ Virginia home.

Below is a listing of all payments made by John Doolittle’s campaign committees to Sierra Dominion, as recorded by the Federal Election Commission and the California secretary of state.

The “John T. Doolittle for Congress” committee is a federal campaign fund, regulated by the FEC. The campaign-disclosure statements for that Doolittle committee can be found on the FEC Web site.

As can be seen in the listings below, the Doolittle campaign reports list both payments already made to Sierra Dominion and even more money that the reports claim is owed to Sierra Dominion.

The “Superior California Leadership Fund” is a Doolittle campaign committee registered with the California secretary of state. The disclosure statements of this committee can be found at the California secretary of state Web site.

In all instances, Sierra Dominion is listed as being paid for “fundraising” or “consulting.” But it remains entirely undocumented what, if any, work Julie actually performed for these payments.

Sierra Dominion Financial Solutions also had clients other than Doolittle’s campaign committees pay them fees. The few other Sierra Dominion clients that are publicly known are associated with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff and indicted defense contractor Brent Wilkes. To date, the Doolittles have refused to release a complete list of Sierra Dominion’s clients.
