Stuck On You

Rated 2.0 Those Dumb and Dumber and Dumberer brothers Peter and Bobby Farrelly have softened their crass, sledgehammer approach to comedy here but don’t quite know what to do with their newfound sense of political correctness and budding, embraceable humanity. Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear star as brothers who are conjoined at the waist and share one liver. One is content to run a burger joint in Martha’s Vineyard, but the other wants to move to Hollywood to become an actor. They give the West Coast a visit, and the Farrellys clutter up a promising premise with one-note and often flat jokes as our closely attached pilgrims flirt with both romance and success. Damon does a funny Mike Tyson impersonation, Kinnear mouths a gutsy Trini Lopez version of “Summertime,” and Cher and Meryl Streep show up as themselves in this mildly amusing but sluggish outing.
