Beerfest

Rated 1.0

Two brothers and their beer-drinking buddies train all year for a grudge match against their German cousins in a sort of World Series of beer-hall games. The boys of the “comedy” troupe Broken Lizard are back (that’s Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske; all five concoct the script, which Chandrasekhar directs). And—surprise, surprise—they’re still not funny. Dumb story, weak jokes, poor comic timing and a level of wit that makes Cheech and Chong look like George Bernard Shaw. Yep, same old Broken Lizard. As usual, the slumming guest stars know more about comedy than the boys do: Cloris Leachman (reprising her Frau Blücher bit), Donald Sutherland, Mo’Nique, Jürgen Prochnow. Hey guys, when Jürgen Prochnow is funnier than you are, you’re in the wrong line of work.
