Bulletproof Monk

Rated 2.0 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’s Chow Yun-Fat stars as the nameless Flypaper Press comic-book hero in a slapstick martial-arts adventure that ponders, among other topics of enlightenment, the age-old question of why hot dogs come in packs of 10 though buns come in packs of eight. The constantly beaming monk is as good-natured as the script is mindless. He has spent the last 60 years of his life not aging, but rather guarding the ancient Scroll of the Ultimate from a nasty Nazi who directs an army of suit-and-tie minions from his wheelchair. The legend is that anyone who totally reads the scroll will have unlimited power, and our mysterious survivor of a monastery massacre must now mentor a new guardian. His quest takes him to modern America, where a spiritually challenged, streetwise pickpocket (American Pie’s Seann William Scott) becomes the unlikeliest of candidates. The film was directed by Paul Hunter.
