Crossroads

Rated 2.0 Pop princess Britney Spears dances in her underwear twice within 15 minutes of the opening credits of this silly, predictable melodrama with music in an immediate embrace of today’s predominant virgin-slut marketing strategy and any semblance of thematic priority. The story about love, broken dreams and date-rape begins as three young Georgia girls bury a box of memorabilia and swear to meet at midnight on high school grad night to reopen it. By the time the girls have grown into Spears, Taryn Manning and Zoe Saldana, they are no longer friends but meet anyway at the prodding of a now-pregnant member of the trio. The girls then hitch a ride to L.A. with a “hot” guitarist (Anson Mount) who just got out of jail: one girl wants to meet the mom that abandoned her at age 3, one wants to visit her wayward-while-away-at-college boyfriend and one wants to win a karaoke contest. Directed by Tamra Davis (Billy Madison).
