2009 JAMMIES

Previous years’ events:
2007 JAMMIES
2008 JAMMIES

2009 JAMMIES

JAMMIES Submissions are closed! 26 contemporary artists and more than ten classical artists have applied.  See the JAMMIES Battle dates below to go and vote for the bands you want to see play at the Crest Theatre on Saturday, February 21, 2009.

The JAMMIES is a 2-day concert series (Night of Contemporary Music and Evening of Classical Music) showcasing some of the finest high school musicians in the Sacramento area. It's no secret that funding for our public school music programs is in jeopardy. With the current state budget cuts, high school music programs for our children are rapidly declining. In light of this, and to further our commitment to music in our schools, the JAMMIES gives the community an opportunity to experience the extraordinary talent of our young performers and show support for our schools.

Night of Contemporary Music, Saturday, February 21, 2009 - Crest Theatre
A group of performers are selected from a pool of applicants to show us (and you) what they've got at battles around town at local all ages venues. The best of these talented musicians will go on to storm the stage and rattle eardrums at the Crest Theatre before embarking upon the final quest for musical world domination.

Featuring:
Hotwire
Northern Lights
If a Tree Falls
A Curbside Ending
Dog Party
Sherman
Red Wire Army
Dead Scott
Berci Sisters
Josiah James
The Squire
The Glorious Fall

Evening of Classic Music, Friday, February 20, 2009 - Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis:
We give young classical musicians a chance to toot their own horns, literally. Teenage prodigies demonstrate how those dreaded music lessons mothers insisted upon from the age of five on have paid off in the end. The spotlight shines on the chosen few at the world-class stage of the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis.

Featuring:
Han-ah Lee Summer
Rio Americano AM Jazz Band
Rosemont High School
Meagan Rao
Woodcreek High School Symphonic Band
Annamarie Arai and Jacob Veligan
Loretto High School Chamber Singers
Kiana Okhovat
Davis Senior High School Orchestra
