Nevada firms given LGBT grades

An annual “Corporate Equality Index” by the Human Rights campaign assessing how congenial 781 major U.S. corporations and law firms are to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workers found that 366 have earned 100 percent rankings for their workplace practices. Four of them are in Nevada:

Caesars Entertainment Corp. 100

MGM Resorts International 100

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas 100

Wynn Resorts Ltd. 100

Tropicana Las Vegas The 90

NV Energy Inc. 70

HRC spokesperson Rena Peng wrote in an email message that NV Energy can bring its score up: “NV Energy is lacking points in the transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage and domestic partner benefits sections. The latter requires there to be parity between employees with different-sex spouses and same-sex partners or spouses in the provision of medical and soft benefits.”

HRC calls it the 2015 index, but obviously it reflects 2014 practices.
