Dear Harry

Last week Josh Romney snapped a photo of his father—former presidential candidate Mitt—standing in line at a post office waiting to drop his tax filing in the mail. Then the younger Romney posted it to Twitter along with this message:

“Hey @SenatorReid, here's a shot of @MittRomney paying taxes. Does it every year. It's how you get your paycheck.”

During the 2012 presidential campaign, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada claimed—without any proof—that Mitt Romney had failed to pay “any taxes for 10 years” (“Harry Reid's hit on Romney,” RN&R, Sept. 6, 2012). Previous and subsequent disclosures by Romney indicated that Reid's claim was false.

In the photo, the former candidate is seen from the back, wearing a dark blue polo shirt with stripes. The tweet didn't identify the post office, but the San Diego Union Tribune identified it as a La Jolla post office.
