I would hope that, as a critic on a website such as newsreview.com, that you might take your job seriously. Is it a critic’s job to give personal opinion, or review and take into account the movie’s features, audience, plot, original writer and history of the story? Your review was a disappointment. Starting with, “I’m getting a little tired of movies where Jesus is a lion.” is reminiscent of a twelfth grade boy ranting on a weblog. And really, you only listed two, possibly three movies? As far as I’m aware, The Lion King wasn’t a movie with a Christian foundation (though you could find it if you looked hard enough) and there are very few similarities between the story of the Messiah and Simba. I find your plot review incredibly brief, and does not even touch upon the main points of the plot, such as the oppression of the Narnians, the political battle in the castle, the idea of finding fault vs. facing forward, belief and faith (and it’s not necessarily Christian, either, most faiths and religions rely on believing in something). I find it unfortunate that his accent was such a distraction to you. I found it a smart way to show the distinct difference between Narnians and Tamarangs- A difference that needed to be made clear to viewers. And, in case you didn’t pay attention, the Tamarangs were from “the kid’s world”, originally as pirates (probably from the Mediterranean) who crossed over into Narnia. So his accent makes sense and adds dimension to the story. As for the White Witch- I applaud her not being in there for longer. This means that the writers followed the book (have you read it?) which is something that all fans of literature and movies appreciate. As for your last comment, it was petty. As a critique, don’t you think you should have a reason? Perhaps, “She gets on my nerves, because _______”. The Pevensie children were characters that were supposed to get on the viewer’s nerves time to time, to show that they have faults and mannerisms that the audience may not agree with or welcome- just like real children! What a surprise. I encourage you to reread your job description, and start using critique-writing words like “because”, and separate your opinion from an actual review. You can include your opinion, but make sure that it’s not all just a rant without a reason. If you can’t fulfill those types of requirements, then I would suggest you go to wordpress.com and make yourself a weblog. LESS
