The A-Team

Joe Carnahan’s big screen adaptation of the ’80s action TV series doesn’t work, and that’s a shame. It’s a shame because he’s assembled a good cast to recreate the roles, including Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson filling the shoes of Mr. T and company. While the cast looks the part, and they make some sequences amusing, the film has no real sense of purpose, boasting an aimless plot that fails to engage. This needed to be empty-headed fun, but the screenwriters have come up with a convoluted, uninteresting mission. Every time the movie tries to have fun, it gets mired down in mundane dialogue. If there are to be any further installments in this franchise, somebody needs to come up with a way to provide better, more bouncy material for these characters. They deserve better. One should not be bored at a movie involving The A-Team.
