Peace march and music

In light of recent events, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank plan to postpone their late September powwow in Washington, D.C.

Protests held by opponents of expanding global power structures have cancelled their plans for marches and demonstrations in Washington, D.C., as well.

A march planned in Reno has changed its focus to one of support for global peace and unity.

The march starts at noon Sept. 29 at the Manzanita Bowl on the University of Nevada, Reno, campus. Peace-mongers will head down Virginia Street and then back to the Bowl, at the corner of Virginia and Ninth streets, by 1 p.m. Bands are still being sought to play at the gathering.

"We lost all four bands we had at first, but are working on others," said event organizer Kara Yegge. She suggested bringing drums or didgeridoos to the event. "If nothing else, there will be the opportunity for personal music."
