Welcome to the drunkest county in America’s annual bars and clubs guide!

We’re No. 1!

Finally! We’re No. 1! After languishing on the bottom of national lists for things like education, healthcare and voter turnout, Washoe County is finally excelling. In what, you ask? Drinking!

In January, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ranked Washoe County as having the highest rate of heavy drinkers in the nation, with a score of 9.4 percent. “Heavy” being more than two drinks a day for men and more than one drink a day for women.

We are so, so proud. We’d like to thank all of you who’ve diligently worked at this task, mercilessly bellying up to bars all over Reno and Sparks, throwing down shots way past your bedtime, sometimes even missing work because of it, all so that we can finally stand up as a community and say, “We’re No. 1!”

In recognition of our combined efforts, we ask you all to celebrate by—what else?—drinking! Whether you’re into chic lounges, sketchy dive bars, cozy pubs or wine bars, this guide hopes to lead you in the right direction. Now say it with us: “We’re number 1! We’re number 1! We’re number …. [conk].”
